How to register for Business Connect

Registering for Business Connect is easy.

You need a RealMe login which you’ll use to sign up for Business Connect.

You’ll also need to have access to the New Zealand Business Number (NZBN) account associated with your businesses. Your NZBN business information pre-populates application forms, so you don’t have to keep repeating the same information with each new application. You can also save documents for reuse with other applications.

Here’s how it works

The five step process to registering

1. Sign-up using RealMe®

RealMe® allows you to access multiple online services with one username and password, and securely prove who you are online. At the start of the registration process, we’ll ask you to login to Business Connect using RealMe®. You’ll use this log in to access Business Connect.

2. Create your personal profile

You’ll create your personal profile by providing us with some information including your first and last name, email address and phone number. We’ll ask you to verify your email address and confirm you accept the Business Connect Terms of Use.

3. Authorise access to your NZBN

To complete your registration with Business Connect, we’ll ask for your authority to access your New Zealand Business Number information. That way you can link your business details to your account and use this info to pre-pop your application forms. You’ll do this by logging into your NZBN account using RealMe® – this is a necessary separate step and is required to protect the security of your NZBN account.

Once you’ve logged into your NZBN account, we’ll show the businesses associated with your NZBN and you can select which businesses you want to use in Business Connect.

How to manage and request authorities

If you are unable to link your businesses in Business Connect, this may be because you don’t have authority over that business and you’ll need to request authority from the Companies Registrar.

4. Confirm your business profile

Review and confirm your business information. If you need to update any of your business details, you can do this in NZBN and we’ll make sure the information is updated in Business Connect before you start applying for services.

5. Apply for services

Congratulations – your Business Connect account has been created and you’re all set to start applying for services.
